<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a control valve by preventing the valve from being locked by a foreign matter biting the valve. SOLUTION: Oil control valves(OCV) 34a, 34b are opened and operating oil discharged from a oil pump 36 is pressurizedly fed to an oil passage 26 of timing advance side and to an oil passage 27 of timing delay side via the OCV 34b. In this state, the operating oil is introduced to a hydraulic room 25 of a timing delay side through a control hydraulic passage (A) of timing delay side and to a hydraulic room 24 of a timing advance side through a control hydraulic passage (B) of timing advance side. A pressure receiving area of a pressure receiving part 23e in the hydraulic room 24 of a timing advance side of a ring gear 23 is smaller than the pressure receiving area of a pressure receiving part 23f in the hydraulic room 25 of a timing delay side and is set such that hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic room 25 of a timing delay side which produces hydraulic pressure opposite to reaction force of a driven cam is increased, thereby preventing the ring gear 23 from being moved by the reaction force of the driven cam, which holds the ring gear 23 at an intermediate phase.</p> |
