PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve the problem of overwriting over adjacent tracks attending upon magnetic track width narrowing formation as a result of narrowing the magnetic track width while leaving a width of projecting end of a magnetic material core unchanged as it is. SOLUTION: The projecting ends 1a and 2a of the magnetic material cores 1 and 2 are covered with magnetic material films 2 and 4 of high saturation magnetic flux density, and are butted against each other, and arcuate groove parts 7 and 8 on a circular arc having their centers on an extended line of a magnetic gap G are formed by electric discharge machining, and then the magnetic material cores 1 and 2 are combined by glasses 5 and 6. Then, such a magnetic head that the lower end of the magnetic gap G is positioned backward at the time of traveling the magnetic head is precedent to the magnetic gap, and also only the thickness T of the magnetic material film between the projecting end 2a and the arcuate groove part 7, positioned on the lower side, is at least >=0.5μm.
