PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the bar code reader of an article during traveling, which can easily read a bar code even if the bar code is added on the front surface in the sending-in direction of the article and which can prolong the life of the bar code reader. SOLUTION: A sending-in conveyor 3 sending the article in an article transportation conveyor and a sending-out conveyor 11 sending the article out from the article transportation conveyor are arranged in parallel on one side of the article transportation conveyor(TC). The bar code reader 4 is provided on the other side of the article transportation conveyor and in a corresponding position between the sending-in conveyor 3 and the sending-out conveyor 11. The bar code reader 4 is started at timing when the article is sent in the article transportation conveyor from the sending-in conveyor 3 and the article moves toward the bar code reader 4. When the bar code 2 reaches the bar code reader 4, the bar code 2 is read and the bar code reader 4 is stopped at prescribed timing after the article passes through the bar code reader 4. |
