The horizontal linear correcting circuit of a multi-mode monitor comprises a primary resonating part composed of a condenser, a horizontal deflection coil, a horizontal linear coil and an S-character correcting capacitor, the primary resonating part resonating according that voltage organized with a secondary side of a drive trans(HDT) is supplied to a base of the horizontal output transistor; a damping part for absorbing a resonance phenomenon caused through the primary resonating part; a monostable multi-vibrator for receiving a horizontal synchronizing signal so as to be synchronized, and charging and discharging in a time constant by the resistance and the condenser; an integrating part for integrating output voltage of the monostable multi-vibrator; a frequency discriminating part for comparing the output voltage of the integrating part with a reference voltage to discriminate a mode; and an S-character correction capacitor switching part for automatically switching a capacity value of the S-character correction capacitor according to the horizontal frequency in the mode discrimination of the frequency discriminating part.
