This invention provides an operation indicating device for motor temperature protector and a method of controlling the same which can let a user know the motor's stop when the motor is overheated or stops by outer shock. The device includes a bidirectional semiconductor switch connected to a DC power source and an external power supply; a motor connected to the switch and having a temperature protector turned off when the motor is overheated; a DC voltage detecting part connected between the switch and the motor and producing a given signal by a DC voltage; an AC power detecting part detecting application of AC power to produce an output signal; a control part controlling the switch and determining if the temperature protector operates on receipt of a signal from the DC voltage and AC voltage detecting parts; and a display displaying signal from the control part.
