The concrete surface finisher has at least one smoothing beam (12) for producing a plane concrete surface by scraping a soft concrete slab.The smoothing beam is mounted via its ends onto slide runners (28) above a height adjusting device. A laser receiver (38) is provided on the beam for receiving a signal from a fixed surface laser (40).The height adjusting device comprises a toothed gear (24) fixed to the beam which works with a toothed bar (26) supported by the slide runners. The toothed gear is driven via a hand crank (32) for adjusting the height of the smoothing beam
