The control circuit has a static bidirectional switch (T) connected in series with the stator winding (1) of the electric motor across a pair of AC supply terminals (M,N). A static electric sensor (H) provides a signal (Vh) representing the polarity of the facing section of the permanent magnet rotor (R), combined with signals (Z1,Z2 ; Z0,Z3) representing the polarity of the AC voltage, for providing a control signal for the switch.
