Charging of a liquefied gas, e.g. butane, container 1, 2 is effected by lifting an inlet valve 17, Fig. 5, from a sealing ring 16 by inserting the neck B of a filling cylinder into the lower end of an axial blind bore 20, thereby allowing passage of liquefied gas through radial bores 21 of the valve 17 and bores 14 in the valve housing 11 set in the container base 2; the housing 11 being connected by a tube 24 to a vent valve housing 3 set in the container top 1, and the inlet valve 17 carrying a spring-loaded rod 26 projecting into a bore 4 of the vent valve housing 3 and serving to unseat the vent valve 10 during charging, and the tube 24 housing a side orifice 25 at the maximum filling level which when reached results in mist issuing from vent 6 to indicate that filling is complete. The valve housing 11 is normally closed by a cap 22, Fig. 3, and the vent valve 10 may be unseated by a predetermined pressure rise in the gas space of the container.</p> |
