The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a mixed polymer, comprising the steps of: (a) admixing a monomer and, if desired, a polymerization initiator to a first polymer; b) causing the monomer and the polymer to react in a graft copolymerization reaction; and c) admixing a second polymer during the graft copolymerization reaction. The first polymer preferably forms the dispersed phase in the final polymer mixture and the monomer is compatible with the second polymer and in particular is the monomer of the second polymer.
