Method for transferring signalling information within a BISDN network

Signalling information is transmitted between interconnected network nodes in special signalling channels. A signalling protocol corresp. to a broadband ISDN layer model is established. An ATM adaptation layer is defined with two service-specific coordination functions. One node sends a signal to the other which is a request for connection. The other node replies with a connection acceptance signal, and the connection is thus established. One of the coordination functions is modified w.r.t. the ITU recommendation Q.2140 such that communication can take place between two interconnected network nodes without prior testing of the transmission path.
