PURPOSE:To improve antiseize properties and wear and abrasion resistance and, at the same time, to attain an improvement in metal corrosion preventing capability, by adding to a lubricating oil an additive comprising a dithiophosphate or dithiocarbamate of molybdenum and, incorporated therein, a particular phosphite compd. CONSTITUTION:1-100pts.wt. organomolybdenum compd. selected from among molybdenum dithiophosphates of the formula: [(R<1>O)(R<2>O)P(S)S]2Mo2OmSn (wherein R<1> and R<2> are each a 1-30C hydrocarbon residue and m and n are each a real number and m+n=4) and molybdenum dithiocarbamates of the formula [R<3>,R<4>NC(S)S]2Mo2OmSn (wherein R<3> and R<4> are each a 1-30C hydro carbon residue) is mixed with 100-1pts.wt. organophosphite compd. selected from among tri-substd. phosphites of formula I, pentaerythritol diphosphites of formula II, pentaerythritol tetraphosphites of formula III, alkyldenebisphosphites of formula IV and tri-substd. thiophosphites of formula V, thereby obtaining a lubricating oil additive. This additive is added to a lubricating oil and a base oil in an amt. of 0.01-10%, thereby obtaining a lubricating oil compsn. |
