PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low-viscosity foam stabilizer excellent in handleability, and capable of forming uniform caels in a vinyl chloride-based resin foam, by dissolving a methacrylic alkyl ester homopolymer and/or copolymer in a mixed solvent of specific composition. SOLUTION: This foam stabilizer is obtained by dissolving (A) 100 pts.wt. of a homopolymer and/or copolymer obtained from 10-100wt.% of a methacrylic alkyl ester and 90-0wt.% of another reactive double bond-contg. monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile) in (B) pref. 100-500pts.wt. of a mixed solvent composed of 10-90wt.% of an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon >=100 deg.C in boiling point (e.g. octane, methylcylohexane) and 90-10wt.% of an alcohol of the formula (R is a 1-10C alkyl; R1 is H or methyl; (n) is 0-3; where, the total number of carbon atoms is 5-13) (e.g. 1/-pentanol, ethylene glycol monoprepyl glycol). It is recommended that the amount of this foam stabilizer to be used by 0.1-5pts. wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride-based resin. |
