A floor comprises a grid of concrete 52 cast on a shuttering consisting of plywood 50 on which rest spaced box-shaped formers and a slab 56 cast on top of formers 41 resting on the box-shaped formers and grid and having cut away corners 41a which leaves spaces which are filled with concrete to form columns 55 joining the grid at its intersections to the slab. The formers are filled with egg-box type stiffening grids. Shuttering 50 and the boxshaped formers are removed and the formers 41 destroyed.
