PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a carrier device carrying a gravure cylinder from a stacker to an engraving machine have a function for measuring a shaft length and a diameter of the gravure cylinder. SOLUTION: Prior to carrying a gravure cylinder S, a left arm part 52 is transferred in a shaft direction of the gravure cylinder S to measure a shaft length of the gravure cylinder S. The left arm part 52 is transferred in the shaft direction from a most left end second reference position, and when a sensor provided to the left arm part 52 abuts against a left end surface of the gravure cylinder S, its transfer is stopped. A distance between the second reference position before start of transfer of the left arm part 52 and a first reference position wherein a right end surface of the gravure cylinder S is positioned, is preliminarily determined. Therefore, when a distance wherein the left arm part 52 is transferred is subtracted from the distance between the first reference position and the second reference position, the shaft length of the gravure cylinder S can be obtained. |
