PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit protective device containing a PTC element composed of a liquid crystal polymer originally having high crystallinity as a base material. SOLUTION: A circuit protective device 1 contains a PTC element 2 composed of a crosslinking liquid crystal conductive polymer 3 indicating a positive temperature coefficient(PTC) behavior. The conductive polymer compound 3 contains a polymer matrix components 3.1 composed of a liquid crystal polymer scattered in a polymer component and a granular conductive filler 3.2. The device 1 works as an automatic-reset current limiter and, is especially useful for protecting a motor, solenoid, telephone line, and battery and improving the performance of an arc extinguisher when the device 1 is used in connection with a circuit breaker and a contactor. The liquid crystal polymer contains an aromatic polyester, aromatic copolyester, armatic copolyester amide, and a mixture of them. The granular conductive filler contains carbon black, carbon fibers, graphite, and metal flakes.
