PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleaning agent for a masking jig which can remove laid-on paint quickly and is not inflammable by making a water-soluble amide compound such as pyrrolidone or a water-soluble lactone compound such asγ- butyrolactone as a major component. SOLUTION: This is a cleaning agent to remove paint on a masking jig whose major component is (A) a water-soluble amide component or (B) a water- soluble lactone compound and is made by mixing 5-85wt.% A or B with 50-15wt.% water. The compound A can be N,N-dimethylformamide, 2- pyrrolidone, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, etc. Preferably, the compound B isγ-butyrolactone.
