PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a raw material precursor of zinc oxide containing a highly conductive Al by neutralizing an aqueous solution containing a Zn salt and an Al salt with an aqueous solution of a basic carbonate, aging, filtering, washing and drying the mixture. SOLUTION: Aqueous solution of a Zn salt such as sulfate, nitrate, acetate or chloride preferably having a concentration of >=5mol/l and an aqueous solution of an Al salt such as sulfate, nitrate, acetate or chloride are mixed at Al atom to Zn atom ratios preferably 0.01-0.8:1, optimally 0.35:1. To this solution mixture, an aqueous solution of a basic carbonate such as sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or potassium carbonate preferably having a concentration of >=5mol/l is added to neutralize so as to reach a pH of 5.5-7 after mixing as a guide. Next it is aged at 90-100 deg.C for 5-20hr, and after filtration and washing, the mixture is dried at >=100 deg.C to obtain planer Al-Zn compound having a ratio (I2 /I1 ) of the second strength I2 at 2θ=23.6-22.5 deg.C to the maximum strength I1 at 2θ=11.2-11.8 deg.C of 18-42:1 by the X-ray diffraction using CuKαrays.
