PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new xanthene compound which can develop a clear highly stable yellow color when used as a heat-sensitive or pressure-sensitive recording material. SOLUTION: This xanthene compound is represented by the formula (wherein R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each a 1-6C linear alkyl, a 3-6C cyclic alkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted 7-20C aralkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or a 2-10C alkoxyalkyl). |
