PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify detection of a failure in a power plant for a vehicle which is equipped with a motor generator producing driving power or generating electricity in accordance with a running state. SOLUTION: A motor generator is cooled with a working fluid of a continuously variable ratio transmission gear (CVT) 16. The temperature of this working fluid is detected by a temperature sensor 44 and, when a detected value shows abnormality, it is judged that a failure occurs in the CVT 16 or the motor generator 14. Moreover, a winding current of a stator of the motor generator 14 is detected by a current sensor and, when a detected value of this sensor shows abnormality, the portion of the failure is specified to be in an electric system of the motor generator 14, while the failure is specified to be in a mechanical system when the detected value of the current sensor shows no abnormality. |
