OPTICAL CONNECTOR FERRULE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector ferrule which is easy in field fitting operation for an optical connector and has small transmission loss. SOLUTION: An optical fiber guide hole is formed in the center of the optical connector ferrule 1 fixed to a base material 2. The optical fiber guide hole is cut by an opening part 4 and a short optical fiber 5 is adhered and fixed in an optical fiber guide hole 3a at the tip. The tip of the short optical fiber 5 is polished together with the tip surface 1a of the optical connector ferrule 1. The rear end of the short optical fiber 5 projects to the opening part 4. The tip part of an optical fiber having its glass part exposed is inserted into the optical fiber guide hole 3b and its tip collides against the rear end surface of the short optical fiber 5, so that they are optically coupled.
