A method to process dry waste material, from a machine for the prodn. of paper or cardboard or coating them, comprises: (i) converting the dry matter into a suspension (S'), which is thickened to a high consistency (H) with a solid content of at least 20%; and (ii) mixing the cationic neutralising agent (CH) with at least part of the filtrate (F) from the suspension. Also claimed is an assembly.
