A three-roll bending machine, for shaping slit tubes, consists of an upper roll, of length corresponding to that of the sheet to be formed, and two symmetrically arranged, height-adjustable, driven lower rolls which are supported at several points along their length by back-up rolls, the upper roll ends extending beyond their bearings and being engaged by hydraulic counter-pressure units for pre-tensioning the upper roll against the bending pressure. The novelty is that either (a) the back-up rolls (4), supporting the lower rolls (2), are individually height-adjustable and are adaptable to the expected bending line of the upper roll (3); or (b) back-up rolls are mounted in an axially parallel row above and along the length of the upper roll and are arranged on a vertically adjustable support beam allowing them to be individually adjusted against and away from the upper roll.
