A device (V) for storage of video image data whose image/picture information is structured into video pictures, and including a first encoder (K1) for coding of video image data according to the interframe-method, with a second encoder for coding the video image data according to the infra-frame method, and a storage device (MEMO). The device (V) has a control unit (CTRL) for both encoder (K1,K2) and for writing to memory (MEMO), the control unit being designed so that given discrete video pictures and inter-frame coded video picture data, as well as intra-frame video picture data, can be generated and stored in the memory (MEMO).
