Joint between solid wooden components

The first component (2) contains a groove (4) in its end face running from its outside to its inside surface, and whose sides (10) diverge towards its bottom (11), while a similarly-shaped groove (5) is formed in the outside surface of the second component (3), which is mounted flush with the first one. When the groove are brought into line they together form a continuous tapering groove, into which a mating tapering key (1) is driven from the outside surface of the first component. To detach the components, a pressure can be applied to the inside surface (9) of the first one sufficient to pull it with the key out of the groove in the second one. The key and groove can taper at the same angle and both can be of symmetrical trapezium cross-section.
