The container is formed by a removable distributor portion (1) in the form of a receptacle for tissues, which is slidable within a closed outer sleeve (2). After removal from the sleeve, the end of the distributor may be partially re-inserted into it to act as a piston pushing used tissues towards the closed end of the sleeve. The distributor may be formed with two open regions (3,4) and a central spine or fold line (7) allowing one region to be folded onto the other to define a box shape. The end portions of each region include cut-out portions (5,9) which between them form a shaped opening allowing easy access to tissues etc. contained within the distributor.
