A reagent for examining the agglutination of a virus comprising a molecule with an affinity for a protein located on the surface layer of a virus which has been fixed on the surface of a minute solid carrier. The reagent can be appropriately employed particularly in the detection of human immunodeficiency virus or hepatitis C virus.
