The object to be measured is held between a permanent magnets (5) and a magnetisable measuring sphere (10) located on a frame (2) supported on the object to be measured. A load cell (3) is solidly linked to the permanent magnet. The load cell can be secured by screwing it into the top of the frame and its active side linked with a permanent magnet. Axles can be provided in the sides of the frame supporting rollers riding on the object to be measured and between the object surface and the magnet the air gap can be a minimum.
