摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set the optimum image recording condition by setting the relation between the beam diameter in the sub-scanning direction of laser beam, the recording interval of an image in the sub-scanning direction and sub-scanning frequency as a specific condition by using a constant given according to a predetermined tolerance density range. SOLUTION: A polygon mirror 20 is rotated at a high speed and the laser beam L reflected by the reflecting surface thereof and deflected in an A- direction is guided to a thermal recording material S from the gap between rollers 26a, 26b through a lens 22 and a cylindrical mirror 24 to subject the thermal recording material S fed in a sub-scanning direction B to main scanning. At this time, the relation wherein the beam diameter in the sub-scanning direction of laser beam L is set to (d), the recording interval of an image in the sub-scanning direction is set to D and sub-scanning frequency is set to (b) is set to d/D <=a.f<-&beta;> +&kappa;o using constants &alpha;, &beta;, &kappa;o given according to a predetermined tolerance density range. By this constitution, the optimum image recording condition can be easily set.
