PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exchange a message through the use of character display between terminals in a conventional bidirectional CATV system by providing a specified input means, a superimposing display means and a transmission means in a home terminal. SOLUTION: The terminal equipments 41 and 42 have the same constitution. The terminal equipment 41 is constituted by the home terminal 411, a television receiver 412 and a remote controller 413. A message exchange function is provided for the home terminal 411. The input means of the home terminal 411 inputs the message to be transmitted. The inputted message is superimposed/ displayed on the screen of the television receiver 412 by a first superimposing display means and it is temporarily accumulated in a memory. When a transmission command is given from a transmission command means, the message inputted by the transmission means is modulated and is transmitted to an incoming channel. A second superimposing display means superposes and displays the message received from a transmission line 10 on the screen of the television receiver 412. |
