The present invention provides a process for the production of hydroxypyridine sulfonic acids which comprises reacting the corresponding aminopyridine sulfonic acid with nitrosylsulfuric acid in a strong organic acid solvent at sub-ambient temperatures, then allowing the temperature to rise, removing the solvent by distillation and recovering the product. |
