A breathing air hose 50 for underwater breathing apparatus has a peripheral wall 51 with a cross-sectional shape, viewed when cut along the hose axis line 50a, consisting of alternating thick-walled portions 52 in which the inside surface is flat and the outside protrudes and thin-walled portions 53 that are curved toward the inside with a small curvature. The inside surface 51a is essentially flat, so there are no problems from the standpoint of hygiene such as those of bellows hose in which dirt and the like accumulates in the depressions, causing germs and the like to propagate. In addition, because of the thin-walled portions, the hose has the flexibility and other attributes required of a breathing hose.
