摘要 |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium reduced in the deterioration of electromagnetic transducing characteristics and having satisfactory shelf stability by forming a middle layer and a magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic substrate and specifying the thickness and center line surface roughness of the magnetic layer and the amt. of a residual solvent in the magnetic layer. SOLUTION: Simultaneous double layer coating is carried out by a wet-on-wet system to form a middle layer 3 on a nonmagnetic substrate 2 and a magnetic layer 4 on the middle layer 3. The magnetic layer is formed in 0.05-0.6μm thickness and is preferably formed while the middle layer is in a wet state. The coating film is subjected to orientation treatment in a magnetic field and drying and winding are carried out. After subsequent calendering, a back coating layer 5 is formed if necessary. The objective magnetic recording medium reduced in the deterioration of electromagnetic transducing characteristics is obtd. by regulating the center line surface roughness of the magnetic layer 4 to 2-10μm and the amt. of a residual solvent in the layer 4 to 5-3,000ppm.
