PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject copolymer having low content of cold toluene soluble component and a broad molecular weight distribution, containing desirable catalyst residue remaining in the polymer and exhibiting good film-forming property. SOLUTION: The objective copolymer has a melt-flow rate of 0.1-30g/1min, contains 1-10mol% of monomer unit derived from ethylene, 84-98mol% of monomer unit derived from propylene and 1-6mol% of monomer unit derived from butene-1, satisfies the formula S<=0.37×E+1.5 (S wt.% is content of fraction soluble in cold toluene; E mol% is content of monomer unit derived from ethylene), has a weight-average molecular weight/number-average molecular weight ratio of >=6 determined by gel-permeation chromatography and contains <=3ppm of titanium atom and <=30ppm of chlorine atom. The copolymer is produced by using a catalyst composed of a solid titanium compound containing magnesium, titanium and a halogen as essential components, an organic aluminum compound and dicyclopentyldimethoxysilane.
