PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound capable of generating proton by photoirradiation and having high ion exchange capacity by mutually bonding an aromatic unit with a sulfonium group and making electron attractive sulfonium group high content. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula (Ar is a 5-36C aromatic compound, preferably 2,5-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene or naphthylene; R is an alkyl or an aryl, preferably methyl, phenyl or 4-toluyl; X<-> is an anion, preferably trifluoromethanesulfonic acid anion or hydrogensulfate anion; (n) is an integer of >=2) and exemplified by poly(methylsulfonium-2,5-dimethyl-1,4- phenylenetrifluoromethane sulfate). The compound is obtained by, e.g. polycondensing a sulfinic acid compound with an aromatic compound in an acid solvent, or self-polycondensing alkylsulfinylbenzene in an acid solvent. |
