<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently emphasize only a specific picture part in question without emphasizing a component such as a noise component unnecessary for picture reading by suppressing the undershoot and overshoot of a picture. SOLUTION: A high frequency component Ssp in an original picture signal Sorg is obtained by a low pass filter 11 and a computing element 14a, a morphology operation is applied to the component Ssp to obtain a morphology signal Smor indicating a large value on a required picture part and a small value on the other picture part, an emphasis coefficientβ(Smor) corresponding to the signal Smor is found out from a conversion table 13, and a processed picture signal Sproc emphasizing only a required picture part is obtained by applying emphasis processing depending on morphology.</p> |
