MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the adhesive strength of a magnetic layer to a substrate and to obtain a magnetic recording medium less liable to peel by interposing a hard plating layer between the substrate and the magnetic layer. SOLUTION: A diamondlike carbon film of 0.01μm thickness as a hard plating film 2 is formed on a polyethylene terephthalate(PET) film of 10μm thickness as a substrate 1 and a magnetic coating film 3 of 2.5μm thickness is formed on the plating film 2 by coating. The magnetic layer is less liable to peel and has high durability and the objective magnetic recording medium having low surface electric resistance, less liable to electrification and the sticking of dust and excellent in recording and reproducing characteristics is obtd.
