PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode which can be manufactured at low cost and is suitable for nickel hydrogen storage batteries by binding an AB5 type hydrogen storage alloy powder which bears a coating with a specified thickness on the surface to the surface of the conductive supporting body with a small amount of a binder. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy powder is bonded to the surface of a three dimensional conductive supporting body made of fibrous nickel or a two-dimensional conductive supporting body made of a punching metal with 0.1-6wt.% of a binder such as xanthane gam. The hydrogen storage alloy powder to be used is an AB5 -type (wherein A stands for misch metal, mixtures of rare earth elements such as La, Ce, Pr, Nd, etc.; and B stands for at least one element selected from Al, Co, Mn, and Ni) coated with nickel preferably 0.01-0.2μm in thickness. A storage battery using the electrode has not only a high capacity and a long life but also excellent initial properties. |
