PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detector which is capable of surely detecting a vehicle turning to the right, regardless of day and night and the presence or absence of an illumination. SOLUTION: A light wave range finder 1A transmits the transmission wave W1 of light toward the center part of an intersected point 3 and receives the reflected wave R1 of the transmission wave W1. A processor 2 determines the correlation value D1 of the shifted phase signal S3a in which the phase of the transmission wave W1 is shifted and the reception phase signal S2a based on the reflected wave R1, determines the distance La up to a vehicle 41 based on shifted phase amountτat which the correlation value D1 becomes maximum, and detects the vehicle 41 by presence or absence of the reflected wave R1 in which the distance La becomes a distance corresponding to a turning right lane 33.
