PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the azimuth of the body of vehicle to the at most by correcting the fluctuation of a value detected by a geomagnetic sensor due to the inclination of the body. SOLUTION: A geomagnetic sensor 23 is attached to the body of vehicle to detect magnetic force in two directions. x, y, orthogonal to each other in a plane view. The inclination anglesθx,θy of the geomagnetic sensor 23 to a horizontal plane are detected, so that an azimuth calculating means which finds the azimuth angleθh of the body on the basis of a ratio of magnetic forces Hx, Hy in two orthogonal directions x, y detected by the geomagnetic sensor 23 finds the azimuth of the body in accordance with the inclination angle information in the condition that the geomagnetic sensor 23 is located in a adequately set attitude to the horizontal plane.
