An electrical connector consists of a plurality of first coaxial connectors, mounted in insulating cable - blocks, which cooperate with a plurality of interconnected second coaxial connectors mounted in an insulating junction block, the -blocks having means for holding them together. As shown, Fig. 1, coaxial cables 8 are joined to first connectors 1 which consist of an outer shell 14 with a socket in an insulat. ing bushing mounted inside it, and a spring element 15 surrounding the shell with rearward fingers which retain the connector in a cable-block 34, Fig. 3. The second coaxial connectors 28 consist of three receptacles 33 joined to form a T-shaped metal shell, and each receptacle contains a contact pin 30 mounted in an insulating bushing 32 and connected together by a metal block 31. These connectors are mounted in two insulating blocks 18, 20 which are bolted together to form a junction block. T-shaped clamping members 42 are also mounted between the blocks 18, 20 and co-operate with jack screws 41, rotatably retained in the cable-blocks, to hold the parts of the connector together. In a second embodiment, Figs. 4, 5, 6 (not shown), the second connectors have a plurality of receptacles leading to the same face of the junction block enabling a plurality of cable-blocks to be attached to that face. A cover to prevent dirt from entering unusual receptacles is also described. |
