[Also in Division E2] A stringer tape 1 of a sliding clasp fastener comprises a strip of narrow tape woven from yarns of polypropylene fibres and having a bead 2 secured to one edge thereof, the thickness of the bead 2 being at least three times the thickness of the tape 1. As shown, the tape 1 comprises warp threads or filaments 3 and weft threads 4 having loops 7 which embrace polypropylene cords 5, 6 forming the bead 2. The diameter of the bead 2 is from three to six times the thickness of the tape 1. The bead 2 may be formed by one cord only. The weft threads 3 may be from 130 to 175 denier and the specific gravity of the polypropylene is about 0.90 to 0.91. The scoops (not shown) of the fastener are regularly spaced along the bead 2. |
