PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce processing times for development and intensification by using a specified compound as a developing agent and specifying the concentration range of this agent in the solution of the developing agent. SOLUTION: The photosensitive material containing silver halide in an emulsion having a silver chloride content of >=90mol% in an amount of >=0.8g/m<2> in terms of equivalent AgNO3 is processed by using as the developing agent at least one kind of compound selected from ones represented by formula I-III in a concentration of 2-40mmol/l. In formulae I-III, each of R1 and R3 is, independently, an 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy (R2 OH) group; R2 is a 1-4C alkylene group; each of R10 -R17 is, independently, an H atom or an 1-4C alkyl group or the like; (m) is 0, 1, or 2; (n) is 2, 3, or 4; R21 is a 1-6C alkyl or R22 -Y group; R22 is a 2-8C alkylene group; R23 is an H or halogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl or such alkoxy group; and Y is an SO3 H or COOH group.
