Beneath the harvesting device is a catchment arrangement (6) for receiving the disintegrated stalks and leading to a cross conveyor (4). At the issue end of the cross conveyor, a disintegration device is directly or indirectly fitted. The catchment arrangement works in conjunction with a conveyor which can lead to the cross conveyor. The cross conveyor may be arranged beneath a transport worm (5) for the maize heads. The conveyor working with the catchment arrangement may be of the worm type (3), as is the cross conveyor. Connected to the disintegration device may be a collection device for the finely disintegrated stalks.
