PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent sliding resistance and water repelling property with little wear and to provide a magnetic recording device having a large memory capacity using this magnetic recording medium by forming an adsorption promoting part and an aggregation promoting part in a lubricating layer on the surface of a recording layer. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium 5 for recording and reproducing by using a magnetic head 3 has a lubricant layer on the surface of a recording layer. The lubricant layer contains such molecules having an adsorption promoting part on the end of the molecule to promote adsorption to the base face and having an aggregation promoting part in the middle of the molecule to promote increase in the aggregation energy with adjacent molecules. Both of promoting parts consist of an org. compd. containing one or more aromatic rings, condensed rings or nitrogen-contg. aromatic rings. With this molecular structure, the release of the lubricant molecules from the base body is prevented, and the re-adsorption of lubricant molecules once detached is made easy. Thus, the obtd. magnetic recording medium has excellent sliding durability and reliability. |
