PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a weather-resistant thermoplastic resin excellent in impact resistance, surface appearance, and surface gloss by grafting a vinyl monomer mixture contg. an arom. vinyl monomer onto a specific (meth)acrylic rubberlike copolymer. SOLUTION: A weather-resistant thermoplastic resin excellent in impact resistance, surface appearance, and surface gloss is obtd. by grafting 30-200 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 100-20wt.% arom. vinyl monomer, 0-50wt.% vinyl cyanide monomer, and 0-80wt.% other copolymerizable vinyl monomers onto 100 pts.wt. (meth)acrylic rubberlike copolymer which has a gell content of 40-95wt.% and is obtd. by treating, with a free-radical generator in the presence of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer, a (meth)acrylic copolymer which is obtd. by copolymerizing 59.9-99.9wt.% (1-12C)-alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer, 0.1-10wt.% chloromethylated vinyl monomer, and 0-40wt.% other copolymerizable vinyl monomers and has a wt. average particle size of 0.05-3μm.
