Method for increasing the production of crops in acid soils The method comprises (a) establishing the optimum pH for each crop and (b) adding the necessary quantity of dolomitic waste (DRC) originating from the steel industry in order to attain this optimum pH. This DRC is obtained by breaking up the layer of refractory which covers the AOD converters used in steel works and when calcined at 1000 degree C has a CaO content of close to 60% and an MgO content of close to 40% by weight with respect to the calcined residue. The DRC may be used as a liming agent and pH corrector for acid soils and as an improver providing Mg for deficient soils. The addition of DRC up to the point where an acid soil achieves the ideal pH for a crop has resulted in an increase in output of up to 75% for radishes and an increase of up to 50% in the production of biomass in the case of sunflowers.
