The device is designed to detect the accidental removal of a transfusion tube (3) inserted into a pipe or body cavity of a patient (4). The tube (3) is connected by a pipe(2) to a liquid source (1) which circulates towards the tube (3). The device has a sensor for detecting the spread of liquid near to the place where the tube (3) penetrates into the patient (4). It has a sensor (6) which is sensitive to the physical and chemical characteristics of the liquid and which sends an signal to an alarm unit (9), when liquid is detected. The sensor (6) is place in proximity to the place where the transfusion tube (3) penetrates the patients body.
