The arrangement for producing thin sheets from a piece of timber has - an elongated drive arm 1 - an elongated cutting edge 2 supported on the drive arm and essentially parallel therewith - an articulated support point 3, on which the drive arm is pivotally supported -a support position 4 for supporting the timber 5, from which thin sheets are to be cut in the longitudinal direction, in a slanting position in relation to the longitudinal direction of the cutting edge and - fixing elements 6 for fixing the timber in the support position, swivelling of the drive arm causing the cutting edge to cut a thin sheet from the timber with a cut running from one end of the timber to the other. <IMAGE>
