Both ends of the brake shoes (1,2) are supported on the expander (3). They are similarly recessed (4) to take one brake lever (5) of one side and on the other take the groove (6) on the endface of the adjuster screw (7). The screw nut (8) with its shoulder (9) lies in the expander bore (12,10), using the release as a circular component which is placed eccentrically on axis (14) in the brake housing (15) so its circular contour (16) bears on the end rims (17,18) of the primary and secondary shoes and is exposed to a spring (19) which urges the circular component of the release towards the end of the secondary shoe. The end-stop (20) in the housing limits the rotation of the circular part, the axis positioned so that torque acts on the circle (13) in opposite directions along the line of engagement (2.3,24) off the resultants of shoe-engagement.
