Mobile telephone with multimode operation - uses comparison of measured field strengths for selection of operating mode with maximum reception field strength

The mobile telephone includes at least one system interface for speech transmission, a control interface and a common current supply. The reception field strength for the different operating modes is detected by a field strength measuring device which is coupled to the system interface. A central processor compares the measured reception field strengths and selects the operating mode which provides the highest reception field strength. Pref. the speech transmission system interface is built using analogue components.
